About The Book
The U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the thin blue line between the United States and the rest of the world, are the men and women sworn to keep illegal and life-threatening elements out of the country.
In this wonderful collection of real-life stories, Michael Cunningham lays bare the tireless dedication and hidden soft hearts of this faithful lineup.
Through forty-one unique accounts of everyday life at the national ports of entry, Cunningham demonstrates the CBP officers daily vigilance and commitment in enforcing the laws of the land, all the while facing serious issues like drug smuggling, money laundering and terrorism.
Cunningham eventually and inevitably exposes the flesh and blood beneath the crisp uniform through the acts of kindnesses and out-of-the-way efforts these dedicated men and women show in the line of duty.
Astonishing, heartwarming, and down-to-earth, this anecdotal anthology is a lasting testimony of the CBPs true-to-life benevolence and dedication.
